1. Not Choosing the Right Brackets
There are two kinds of mounting brackets for faux wood blinds: hidden and box brackets.
Box brackets are most widely used and fit perfectly on each end of the headrail, just like any box lid. (The headrail is the part of the blind that houses its operating system.) In order to fit these brackets, you have to measure the headrail’s height and width.
If your blinds need hidden brackets, it means that these brackets are mounted behind or just above the blind and they remain hidden when the blind is hanging.

2. Faux Wood Blinds Sag in the Centre
Those who prefer faux wood blinds that are 4-feet wide or more for their Toronto home also need one or more support brackets in the middle. These will help stabilize these blinds and prevent them from sagging.
3. Faux Wood Blinds Fall Out of Their Box Brackets
Faux wood blinds often fall out of their box brackets but the brackets still remain in the closed position. This happens because the box brackets are spaced far apart. This means you have to re-install the brackets closer.

In this case, check the cord lock mechanism or cradles for grooves or sharp edges. If any one of them is damaged then you need to replace them to extend the life of the blind’s lifting cord.
5. The Blinds Cannot Be Lowered
This happens when the strings are too short to lower the blinds fully to cover the whole window. The only remedy is to replace the cord. But there is no means to sew or tie new string to the existing string. For this also, you need to replace the lifting cords.
6. Valances Won’t Stay or Are Hanging Crooked
Often the valance clips become brittle and even break. (The valance is a common feature of blinds that is attached to its top to cover the headrail. It matches the material and colour of the blind.)
If this happens then you need to replace these clips. To choose the correct ones, you first need to check how it attaches to the valance. For example, it may wrap around the bottom or top of the valance, or attach to the plastic strip on its back. It may also fit into the grooved slot on the valance or even be screwed on. Then measure the clip’s overall height. Make sure to put a valance clip properly in order to give these valances the required stability.
